Be Still And Know
“Stop fighting, and know that I am God, exalted among the nations, exalted on the earth.” - Psalm 46:10
These powerful words are an invitation to pause and release the burdens of control. Originating from Psalm 46:10, they encourage you to quiet your mind, cease striving, and rest in the assurance that God is actively in control.
To help you put these words into practice, here is a simple and grounding reflection exercise you can use anytime to find calm:
1. Let Go of Striving • What it means: The original Hebrew translation often implies "ceasing striving" or letting go of frantic attempts to control every outcome. • Action: Surrender your anxieties and acknowledge that the weight of the world doesn't rest solely on your shoulders.
2. Quiet Your Mind • What it means: True stillness isn't just physical; it requires bringing your soul-level anxiety to a place of quiet confidence. • Action: Practice deep breathing. As you exhale, imagine releasing the tension and rushing of your day.
3. Reflect on God's Sovereignty • What it means: "Knowing" God in this context means actively trusting His presence, strength, and power. • Action: Remind yourself that God is your ultimate refuge and fortress, especially in the midst of life's chaos or unexpected seasons.
God is patient with us like he was with the prophet Jonah who did not do what God said the first time. Jonah got a second chance and he finally called out to God.
Jonah 1:2 we can call out to him and Release our burdens - pause and release control. Rest in assurance that God is actively in control.
